We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work at a thriving Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Blandford Forum, Dorset, providing education for students aged 11–16 who have experienced challenges in mainstream settings. The team is committed to offering a safe, inclusive, and structured environment where students can rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.
As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you’ll play a vital part in:
* Supporting students with emotional, behavioural, and special educational needs in and out of the classroom
* Working 1:1 or with small groups under the guidance of teachers and SEN professionals
* Helping to manage behaviour positively using trauma-informed and restorative approaches
* Encouraging students to re-engage with learning through patience, creativity, and care
* Empathy, resilience, and a genuine desire to make a difference
* Ability to build trusting relationships with young people who may struggle to trust adults
* Experience in SEN or behavioural support - we find those with a background in youth work, education or psychology tend to get on well

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
