Job Title: Group Accountant
Location: Liverpool (Hybrid)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

A well-established organisation based in Liverpool is seeking a Group Accountant to join its finance team. This is a pivotal role, offering the opportunity to contribute to the financial health and strategic direction of the business. You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting decision-making, and ensuringpliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the Head of Finance with monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
2. Prepare and post monthly journals, accruals, and prepayments.
3. Manage daily cashflow processes and forecasts.
4. Submit quarterly VAT returns for the group.
5. Monitor capital programmes and maintain audit-ready records.
6. Manage deferred capital grants and related reporting.
7. Prepare audit evidence and respond to external audit queries.
8. Provide financial insights and reporting to senior stakeholders.
9. Maintain and improve financial policies, procedures, and controls.
10. Attend finance and budget holder meetings as required.
11. Ensure quality control of financial data and intepany transactions.
12. Provide technical accounting support and training to junior team members.
13. Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting.
14. Identify and implement improvements to systems and processes.
15. Maintainpliance with relevant regulations.
16. Support wider organisational activities during key operational periods.
Experience/QualificationsEssential:
17. Qualified, Part-Qualified or qualified by experience.
18. Strong management and financial accounting background.
19. Analytical, innovative, and solutions-focused.
20. Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills.
21. Skilled in handlingplex financial information and models.
22. Advanced Excel and financial systems experience.
23. High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
24. Flexible and collaborative approach to work.
25. Strong written and verbalmunication skills.
