About the role
Personal Care & Physical Support:
Provide tailored support to meet pupils’ personal and physical care needs, including mobility assistance, hygiene routines, feeding, and sensory regulation for pupils with ASC, SLD, and PMLD.
Communication & Emotional Support:
Build trusting relationships with pupils using appropriate communication methods, promoting independence, emotional wellbeing, and positive interactions throughout the school day.
Learning Engagement:
Support pupils during lessons and activities, working closely with teachers and support staff to encourage participation, engagement, and progress in a specialist learning environment.
Creating a Safe & Nurturing Environment:
Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and caring school atmosphere where every pupil feels valued, understood, and supported to achieve their full potential.
About the school
You will be supporting innovative and well-resourced specialist schools that cater for pupils with complex Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
These schools provide exceptional facilities such as sensory rooms, therapy spaces, adapted classrooms, and outdoor learning environments designed to meet the diverse needs of their pupils.
Requirements
To be considered for the role of Care Assistant in SEN Schools you will:
* •Have experience supporting children, young people, or adults with additional or complex needs.
* •Be confident in delivering personal care, managing physical needs, and working with pupils who require consistent structure and reassurance.
* •Show empathy, patience, and resilience, with a genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
* •Work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.
* •Hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
* This role is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in care, SEN settings, health and social care, residential support, or for experienced teaching assistants seeking a specialist SEN role.
