We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised, team player to join our busy, high-performing team that is committed to providing efficient and first-class Electoral Service. We will provide the successful candidate with comprehensive training and ongoing support to help them progress and develop within this career grade position. Working in Electoral Services means being involved in an exciting and fast-paced environment, where two days are rarely the same. You will play an important role in ensuring the successful delivery of this service within City of York Council.
Responsibilities
* You will undertake various duties in assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the Register of Electors with approximately 165,000 electors, carrying out the annual canvass and the conduct of all Referenda, UK Parliamentary, Local Government elections and by-elections within the city.
* You will play a key role in developing and delivering new and creative ways to boost voter registration and keep the register up to date, focusing on hard to reach residents.
Requirements and Security
* The postholder will have access to secure government sites or email. In order to use these systems, the Cabinet Office requires the HR Team to carry out Baseline Personnel Standard Security (BPSS) checks.
* This post is deemed as politically restricted. As designated politically restricted officers, employees will not be allowed to undertake certain activities. Please refer to the guidance attached for further information.
Working Arrangements and Location
* Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
