Bookkeeper / Payroller - Ballymoney - Permanent The Bookkeeper will play a key role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the accounting practice and its clients. This position supports the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across all bookkeeping and payroll functions. The successful candidate will use BrightPay, a computerised payroll system, to manage and process client payrolls. About the role:

What you'll be doing in this role:
4. Maintain detailed records of all financial transactions, including income, expenses, and journal entries using accounting software.
5. Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts with internal records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
6. Process payroll using BrightPay - approximately 52 weekly and 25 monthly payrolls. Duties include calculating wages, deductions, and statutory payments (PAYE, National Insurance, pensions). Ensure timely and compliant submission of payroll data and payments.
7. Act as the first point of contact for clients, providing updates, answering queries, and maintaining strong client relationships.
8. Assist accountants with year-end procedures, VAT returns, and other financial tasks as required.
What you'll need for this role:
9. Proven experience in bookkeeping and payroll within an accounting practice or similar environment.
10. Proficiency in computerised accounting and payroll systems, including BrightPay, QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
11. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
12. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
13. Good communication skills and ability to liaise professionally with clients.
14. Understanding of payroll regulations, VAT, and general accounting principles.
