Overview
Band 5 Qualified Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) – join the East Cambridgeshire Mental Health Support Team based at the Princess of Wales Hospital, Cambridge.
Deliver evidence‑based early interventions to children, young people and their families across educational settings and healthcare sectors. The role requires travel to allocated schools within the area.
Responsibilities
* Conduct holistic, child‑centred mental health assessments and risk assessments.
* Develop and deliver outcome‑focused, evidence‑based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate difficulties (e.g. anxiety, behaviour, low mood).
* Provide support to parents/carers, families and educators in the self‑management of presenting difficulties.
* Escalate more severe or complex cases to specialist services and signpost referrals in line with local and national protocols.
* Maintain accurate assessment records, risk management processes and safeguarding protocols.
* Participate in multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency meetings and case reviews.
* Keep clear, professionally coherent records and use outcome data to inform decision making.
* Assist staff in education settings to identify and manage mental health and wellbeing issues.
* Contribute to the development of clinical materials, training resources and service improvement initiatives.
* Receive and apply regular supervision and undertake mandatory training.
Requirements
* Qualified Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner – in progress or registration pending with BPS or BABCP.
* Band 5 NHS band salary.
* Experience working with children and young people, ideally in a school or healthcare setting.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to travel to schools within the geographic area.
* Commitment to maintaining professional registration and engaging in continuing professional development.
Additional Information
* Perform duties in line with Trust risk assessment, infection control and information governance policies.
* Participation in clinical, safeguarding audits and Emergency Preparedness processes.
