We are looking for an experienced Routing Technical Officer to join the Tata Steel site in Trostre. The role is temporary, one year initially, ideal for a hands‑on professional who can connect commercial and technical departments within a heavy industrial environment.
Role and Contract
Position: Routing Technical Officer
Location: Tata Steel, Trostre, Maes‑Ar‑Ddafen Road, Llanelli SA14 9SD
Pay: £28,000 per annum (£14.75 per hour)
Band: F
Contract length: 12 months initially
Shift patterns: 36.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 08:30‑16:45
Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary technical link between Commercial, Sales, Production and Quality to unify understanding of order requirements and feasibility.
* Convert complex customer specifications and commercial needs into practical routing instructions and manufacturing parameters.
* Maintain the integrity of all product routing and manufacturing master data within the core system.
* Provide immediate technical assistance to manufacturing to resolve routing issues impacting schedule or quality.
* Collaborate with Quality Specialists to analyse defect mapping data and refine routing/manufacturing parameters for continuous improvement.
* Stay current with product specifications, materials and technology to proactively update and optimise order routing paths.
