Oxbridge Economics Admissions Tutor
Location: Remote
Reports to: Head of Admissions / Lead Counsellor
Role Overview
CollegePass is seeking an Oxbridge Economics Admissions Tutor to prepare applicants for Economics (and related courses, e.g. Land Economy, HSPS) at Cambridge and Oxford. The role combines two core functions: rigorous interview preparation and high-quality personal statement editing. You will work directly with high-calibre students aiming for the most competitive UK undergraduate programmes, and your output will materially shape their admission outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Interview preparation
* Run mock interviews replicating the Cambridge/Oxford Economics format, including supervision-style questioning and on-the-spot problem solving.
* Train students to reason through unseen economic problems, data, and graphs aloud, under pressure.
* Build students' command of micro/macro fundamentals, mathematical reasoning, and current economic affairs to interview standard.
* Provide structured, honest feedback after each session, with clear development plans.
Personal statement editing
* Edit and refine UCAS personal statements to a publishable standard — sharpening argument, structure, and academic voice.
* Ensure statements demonstrate genuine super-curricular engagement and intellectual depth appropriate to Oxbridge Economics.
* Cut inflated, generic, or AI-sounding language; preserve the student's authentic voice.
* Advise on wider written components where relevant (e.g. submitted written work, admissions test preparation such as the TMUA/ECAA where applicable).
Student management
* Track student progress and maintain clear records of sessions and feedback.
Required Qualifications
* Undergraduate (or postgraduate) degree in Economics from Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, or an equivalent top institution — ideally with direct experience of the Oxbridge admissions and interview process.
* Demonstrable subject mastery in micro, macro, and quantitative economics.
* Strong editorial ability: a track record of editing academic or application writing to a high standard.
* Excellent spoken and written British English.
* Experience tutoring or mentoring applicants to selective universities (Oxbridge specifically preferred).
Desirable
* Personal admission to, or direct involvement with, Oxbridge Economics admissions.
* Familiarity with UCAS timelines, admissions tests, and college-level application nuances.
* Experience working with international students, particularly from India.
