Accounts Payable Team Leader
Location: Derbyshire
Salary: £29,000 – £31,000
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Office-based Monday to Friday. Hours flexible to start between 8am-9am and to finish between 4pm-5pm
The Accounts Payable Team Leader will oversee a team of three, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments. This hands-on role involves full end-to-end purchase ledger responsibilities, accruals, reporting, and operational support duties. The successful candidate will support with team management and day-to-day finance and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, support and develop a team of three Accounts Payable clerks
* Oversee staff requests, issues, holidays, absences and general HR-related queries
* Allocate workload, tasks and responsibilities as required
* Monitor team performance and ensure SLAs, accuracy and deadlines are met
* Provide training, guidance and day-to-day problem resolution
Accounts Payable Duties
* Manage full end-to-end purchase ledger processes
* Review, code and process supplier invoices
* Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
* Prepare and process scheduled and urgent payments
* Complete accruals including PO tracker accruals
* Assist in month-end processes and reporting
Operational & Administrative Support
* Monitor and manage incoming requests
* Liaise with relevant internal and external contacts on financial queries and resolutions
* Manage team inboxes, reminders and workflow communications
* Provide basic IT assistance to team members
* Support general office administration linked to finance operations
Person Specification
* Experience in Accounts Payable to include the full end-to-end process
* Previous supervisory or team-leader experience is desirable
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure and handle a varied workload
* Proficient with finance systems and Excel
* A proactive, hands-on approach
