Therapy Assistant
Location: Heath Farm School – Kent, ME16 0ER
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
Contract: Permanent – Term Time only
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our developing, dedicated team of clinicians supporting children and young people at Heath Farm School.
The role is cross-disciplinary, with a primary focus on supporting the work of our Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. The successful candidate will work closely with the therapy team to provide high-quality support tailored to our pupils' needs.
Working closely with the education team and families, you will be responsible for providing evidence-based assessments and interventions under the supervision of qualified clinicians and the leadership of the Lead Clinician. You will support the creation of communication and sensory profiles, contribute to placement plans, and deliver a range of interventions. Other duties include observations, co‑facilitating staff training, attending multi‑agency meetings and ongoing service development.
Who we are looking for
We seek a Therapy Assistant experienced with young people with special educational needs. The ideal candidate is independently motivated, works well under supervision, enjoys developing bespoke interventions, and brings a dynamic problem‑solving approach.
Qualifications
* 5 x GCSEs Grade C or above, including English
* Evidence of relevant Post 16 education
* Willingness to work towards further qualifications as required
* Experience as a therapy assistant or in a similar role would be advantageous
* Experience working within an educational setting would be advantageous
* Skilled in working as part of a team
* Knowledge and understanding of working with children and young people with SEN
* Ability to carry out both 1:1 and group sessions under supervision
* Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, and convey complex, technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, families and professionals
* Excellent organisational skills and experience completing administration tasks for a team would be advantageous
