The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (RH&DR), one of the UK’s most iconic heritage railways, is seeking passionate and dedicated Non-Executive Directors to join its Board. These voluntary roles offer the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future of this historic railway, which has been a cherished part of the local community since 1927.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will help steer the RH&DR towards a strong future as it approaches its 100th anniversary, ensuring it continues to thrive as both a key local attraction and a member of the national Heritage Railway Association.
About the RH&DR
The RH&DR operates a 15-inch gauge railway, offering an enchanting journey through the Romney Marsh, with a rich history of miniature engineering and a collection of meticulously crafted locomotives and rolling stock. The railway plays a vital role in the local visitor economy, operating regular services that appeal to a wide range of visitors and hosting a variety of events that celebrate both heritage and modernity.

Key Responsibilities
* Attend regular Board meetings (usually on Saturdays) to contribute strategic advice and decision-making.
* Support the growth and sustainability of the RH&DR through active involvement in key areas such as fundraising, community engagement, and business development.
* Collaborate with fellow directors and the General Manager to ensure the long-term success of the railway.
* Provide governance and oversight, helping the RH&DR remain a vital part of the local and national heritage community.
