Our client needs a Financial Controller who will provide leadership capacity to the finance team as well as technical Expertise to the client. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and transactions of the finance department and will lead on delivering financial strategies across the Trust. You will manage the Finance Operations Lead, Treasury team and financial accountant. You will also support the Finance Director to deliver the vision for finance across the Trust and ensure the output from the finance department is accurate, timely, current and to a high standard. This role will develop and embed a culture of continuous improvement within the team and ensure the service provided to our clients academies and other provisions is of the highest quality requiring the establishment of key relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Job Title: Financial Controller Annual Salary: £53,602 - £59,167 Based on 37 hours per week, all year round Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract Length: Fixed until 31/05/2026 or upon the return of the substantive postholder Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday KNOWLEDGE: Strong technical accounting knowledge. * Education and charity experience * VAT and corporation tax knowledge working in a similar or related environment. SKILLS: Strong leadership skills with proven track record of successfully leading a team * Statutory accounts production * Strong interpersonal and communication skills * Intermediate excel skills * Experience of creating annual accounts under Charities SORP EXPERIENCE: Experience of managing a team that delivers a high-quality performance * Experience of working to tight deadlines and month end procedures * Experience of investigations resulting in process improvement * Treasury management * Public sector accounting experience QUALIFICATIONS: Fully qualified accountant with 5 years' experience. * Several years of accountancy experience at a senior level ABILITIES: Financial analysis and ability to interrogate data. * Ability to challenge and hold people to account, influence others and prioritise effectively. * Confident presenting financial data to wide range of audiences.
