* Salary: Up to £37,500 per year (depending on experience, training and qualification)
Overview
We are looking for a Theatre Practitioner to join our Anaesthetics/Scrub department and support the surgical and anaesthetic teams in a flexible shift pattern.
Responsibilities
* Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety.
* Support the Anaesthetist with equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning.
* Provide post–operative care, monitor vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and ensure patient readiness for discharge.
* Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
* Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
* Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
* Support a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
* Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
* Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
* Ability to work under pressure, problem‑solve, and respond quickly to changes.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
