Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to actively engage and support our research portfolio in NHS Hospital, the community and wider care settings (for example: care homes; charities; faith-based groups; prisons; schools), working as part of a wider agile team across the North London Research Delivery Network geography as well as independently. In conjunction with the Agile Team Managers the post holder will work directly with health providers in the NHS and non-NHS settings. The post-holder will liaise, establish and maintain positive links with organisations in the community, providing training to local staff as well as recruiting service users and the public to research studies. In addition, the post-holder will work with colleagues in North London RRDN Delivery Organisations in hospital, primary care and wider care settings to recruit participants into NIHR portfolio adopted studies.


Responsibilities

* Promoting Research Engagement: liaise with key groups and personnel in services within the community to publicise and promote research; contact services in the community within the North London RDN region inviting them to become collaborators in NIHR portfolio research; develop capacity within community services, social care, voluntary sector, and care homes to recruit patients and carry out NIHR Portfolio studies.
* Research: attend multi-disciplinary meetings in non-NHS sites and NHS teams to screen, recruit new participants and collect relevant data; develop strategies for community engagement; evaluate participant eligibility; ensure potential participants receive appropriate information for informed consent; comply with ICH GCP and legal requirements; create and maintain protocol and patient information files; document trial data; ensure GCP and Research Governance Standards are adhered to; apply critical appraisal skills; conduct participant assessments in home or community settings; review participant compliance; record and report adverse events; communicate with participants, carers and the research team; operate as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team; manage trial medication; undertake phlebotomy; provide ongoing information and support to participants and carers; maintain accurate participant records and source data; complete electronic case report forms and resolve data queries.
* Administration: act as a key point of contact between study teams and site teams; review the national portfolio for local development opportunities; organize regular meetings and take minutes; contribute to the Bi-monthly Agile Workforce Highlight Report; lead feasibility for new studies in non-NHS settings; maintain high attention to detail in data capture; assist in gaining local permission for research studies; assist with costing and invoicing where necessary; support non-NHS site teams in maintaining participant activity records; develop and update Standard Operating Procedures; maintain study files and recruitment records; archive studies as required.
* Education and Communications: assist in education and support of health and social care professionals; assess needs of participants and carers; educate and counsel participants and volunteers; maintain up-to-date knowledge of research topics; attend local and national meetings; support induction and development of new research staff; participate in Network events and wider partner activities.
* Other: understand and adhere to Trust policies; embody WeCare values; maintain patient confidentiality and Good Clinical Practice; frequent travel to other sites including non-NHS settings and participant homes.


Qualifications and Experience

* Experience of recruitment of participants to research studies in NHS / non-NHS / community settings including informed consent and conducting study visits autonomously.
* Willingness to travel independently to various sites within the North London Research Delivery Network Region.
* Collaborative approach with excellent communication skills.
* Understanding of the changing landscape in health care settings.
* Personal credibility that generates trust with internal and external stakeholders.
