Description
We are currently seeking an Environmental Permitting Manager based in the UK. Reporting to the Environment Manager, you will help support our licence to operate across the GB business in the most cost‑effective and sustainable manner. This role is fixed‑term, ending 30 September 2026, and is hybrid with regular national travel.

Key Accountabilities
* Adhere to and positively promote Breedons safety culture.
* Build effective working relationships across the business, ensuring sharing of best practice and innovation at all opportunities.
* Take a lead on the permit application process, including completion of relevant documentation and regulatory liaison.
* Scope technical solutions, provide practical support and deliver projects that will improve the performance of business assets in relation to environmental management.
* Advising on water & waste management regulations & compliance.
* Represent Breedon on MPA waste & water working groups.
* Monitor regulatory and technological change relevant to water and waste permitting and produce advice on Breedons impacts and responses.
* Maintain a comprehensive database of all permits and annual returns.
* Represent the Company on external bodies and liaise with external stakeholders.
* Lobby and make representations to Government and other political stakeholders on legislation and policy to protect the business future strategy.
* Help develop and support the Company’s sustainability strategy.
* Assist with environmental reporting and sustainability data.
Key Work Outputs
* Maintain a monthly RAG Excel report of development permit progress.
* In conjunction with the Mineral Resources Manager, manage key data for water abstraction, discharge and transitional arrangements.
* Accurately record and update all permit‑related data on Magpi and LandDocs.
* Prepare and maintain L&M&R related expenditure through Findocs.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level and possess relevant environmental qualifications, along with significant experience of environmental permitting and strong technical skills in sustainability and environmental management. You will have strong data analysis and validation skills, excellent report‑writing skills, and experience of presentations and workshop delivery. You will also possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build and develop relationships internally and externally, and excellent communication, teamwork and IT skills.
