About ARU
ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.
About The Role
The School of Engineering and the Built Environment delivers successful undergraduate, postgraduate and degree apprenticeship courses. We are seeking an experienced mechanical engineering lecturer to teach for part of the year in China and part of the year in Chelmsford. It is anticipated that teaching in China will be on a maximum of two occasions each year for up to four weeks on each occasion. The remainder of the teaching will be in Chelmsford across all levels whilst making a contribution to the school’s research programme. We are particularly interested in those who can positively contribute to research in the area of sustainability.
The successful applicant will deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials and practical sessions in mechanical engineering and contribute to teaching across other engineering and built environment programmes. You will have a relevant first degree and PhD or Professional Doctorate (or nearing completion) in a related discipline and teaching experience in Higher Education and/or relevant professional practice.
Informal enquiries can be made to Mark Tree, Head of school at mark.tree@aru.ac.uk or Paul Trevillion Deputy Head of Faculty Operations at paul.trevillion@aru.ac.uk
