The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ethics & Compliance Manager to join a collaborative and purpose-driven organisation within a newly created role.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, this position has been created to lead and develop key ethics, compliance, and governance activity across the organisation.
This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to shape frameworks, strengthen controls, embed compliance culture, and support the organisation in navigating a broad range of regulatory and operational risks.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business, helping ensure compliance activities are proactive, practical, and embedded into day-to-day operations while acting as a trusted advisor on ethics, governance, and risk-related matters.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building structure, improving processes, influencing culture, and operating autonomously within a broad and evolving remit.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead day-to-day ethics and compliance activity across the organisation
* Develop, implement, and enhance compliance frameworks, policies, controls, and governance processes
* Provide oversight and monitoring across key regulatory risk areas including:
* Health & Safety
* Safeguarding
* Anti-bribery & corruption
* Modern slavery
* Environmental compliance
* Lead health & safety policy development, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
* Support emergency planning and organisational readiness activities
* Maintain and embed safeguarding frameworks, policies, and training across the organisation
* Design and maintain anti-bribery and corruption controls including gifts & hospitality registers, conflicts of interest, and whistleblowing mechanisms
* Support and maintain audit, assurance, and compliance monitoring activities including ISO-related frameworks
* Conduct compliance reviews, investigations, and risk assessments across business activities
* Produce reports, metrics, and updates for senior leadership and board-level stakeholders
* Deliver compliance training and awareness initiatives across the organisation
* Support business change projects by ensuring compliance risks are identified and effectively managed
* Monitor regulatory developments and maintain awareness of evolving legislation and best practice
* Build strong relationships across the organisation to promote a positive and embedded compliance culture
* Lead and support the wider compliance function, including line management of a Health & Safety Advisor
About You
We’re looking for an experienced compliance, ethics, governance, audit, or regulatory professional who is confident operating independently within a broad and evolving role.
You may come from backgrounds such as:
* Compliance or regulatory management
* Audit or governance
* Risk and ethics
* Legal with a move into compliance
* Public sector, education, regulated, or corporate environments
You will likely bring:
* Significant experience within compliance, ethics, governance, audit, or risk management
* Experience managing or improving compliance frameworks and controls
* Exposure to health & safety, safeguarding, or wider regulatory compliance activity
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
* Experience producing policies, governance documentation, and board-level reporting
* Confidence operating autonomously within a visible role
* A pragmatic, commercially aware, and solutions-focused mindset
* Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills
Experience supporting ISO, audit, safeguarding, or environmental compliance frameworks would be highly beneficial.

Additional Information
* Hybrid working: 2 days per week in the Cheltenham office (Monday & Wednesday – non-negotiable)
