The Vacancy

Senior Care Worker – Lapwing Apartments

Cross Keys Care requires a dedicated and conscientious senior care worker to join our friendly team at Lapwing Apartments on a permanent basis. We’re seeking a caring and compassionate individual who enjoys interacting with seniors and assisting them with their daily living activities.

The role of being a senior carer is an important role within working in the health & social care industry. You will provide care to residents to maximise their independence and choice, participate in their community and support them to monitor their health and wellbeing. As well as supervising and monitoring care workers to ensure the highest standards of care is provided to people in their own homes.

Description

1. Provide care and support to residents in accordance with their support plans including personal care, support with medication, food preparation and access to social activities (this is not an exhaustive list)
2. Direct day to day line management of care staff including regular debriefs, supervision and sickness reporting
3. Support to the Care Team Leader to ensure adequate staffing of all care calls through rota setting and management of staff down time
4. Provide personal care to residents to maximise their independence and choice while ensuring that risk assessments and safe working practices are in place at all times
5. To provide an on-call service to the team on a rota basis
6. Respond to calls from the various integrated alarm systems throughout the building including those from any assistive technology alerts
7. Ensure the quality of the care service and delivery of support plans through observations and spot checks of care delivery
8. Participate in team meetings and ensure excellent communication throughout the team
9. Ensure full compliance against the CQC’s National Minimum Standards of Quality and Safety
10. Ensuring the adherence to all Cross Keys Homes policies and procedures. medication policy and procedure
11. Liaison with family, friends and professionals to ensure inclusion and wellbeing of customers
12. Maintain resident files; ensuring all information is kept secure and confidential
13. Ensure that the care teamwork at all times in line with Safeguarding procedures
14. No job description can cover every issue which may arise, and the post holder is expected to carry out other duties as required from time to time
15. Please note this is 50% care and 50% office work

Requirements

16. Must have minimum 1 years’ experience within a senior role
17. NVQ level 3 or above in care or equivalent
18. A good understanding of the needs of older people and confidentiality and data protection
19. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures relative to work area
20. Knowledge of the local area and relevant support agencies
21. Knowledge and understanding of best practice in the delivery of personal care services and the CQC’s essential standards of quality and safety
22. Experience of quality checking the working standards of others

Hours

23. Working pattern - 37 hours per week. This includes working five out of seven days including Saturdays and Sundays on a rotational basis
24. Every other weekend on shift (Wednesday & Thursday off during the week when weekend working) and every 3rd week on call
