Role: Senior Infrastructure Analyst - Networks
Salary: Grade J £40,777 to £45,091 a year
Location: Council House and other Derby City Council buildings
Hours: 37 hours a week
Closing Date: 16/01/2026
Contract Type: Temporary for 12 months
The Council’s IT services department is seeking a professional and enthusiastic Networks Infrastructure Senior Analyst to join a small team of dedicated network engineers. The networks team are responsible for maintaining the Council wider and local area network and also support our Microsoft Teams telephony and contact centre deployment.

The Opportunity
In the role of Senior Infrastructure Officer - Networks, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
• Working in a senior Network role supporting the Council’s network connectivity primarily supported using Fortinet local area network equipment
• Configuring, installing and troubleshooting networking equipment at all Derby City Council affiliated sites
• Monitoring network performance and integrity
• Managing Incidents, problems, and requests.
• Managing customers and third parties.
• Working independently and as part of a team to deliver excellent IT support.
• Leading on high profile network and build project delivery to tight time scales.
• Collaborating with colleagues and 3rd parties.
- Report writing and technical documentation
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have…
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a network engineer in a large, complex organisation
• Understanding of network infrastructure and hardware
• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches etc
• Familiarity with security issues and Network monitoring tools
• Excellent problem solving and customer management skills.
• Proven experience working independently and as part of a team.
• Lead on high profile network related project delivery to tight time scales.
• Able to provide cover for other members of the team
• Effective communication skills.
• Highly tuned problem-solving skills.
• Strong organisational skills
• Full driving licence with own vehicle
