KPMG LLP is the UK member of the international KPMG network of professional services firms and provides audit, tax and advisory services to a wide variety of clients. The OGC Commercial team is part of the UK Office of General Counsel that provides legal support to KPMG’s client facing teams and activities.
This position
We are looking for either a qualified lawyer with 6+ years PQE or a non-lawyer with significant experience in contract drafting and negotiation to join our OGC Commercial team. The role is primarily to assist in complex contract review, drafting and negotiation across KPMG’s core capabilities of Audit, Tax & Legal and Advisory working alongside engagement teams and subject matter experts and will involve advising partners and senior stakeholders on a wide range of legal, risk and commercial issues. Experience working for, or with, large professional services providers and/or regulated industries will be beneficial but is not essential. The role will also assist in OGC Commercial’s support of KPMG’s technology based client offerings including SaaS licenses and use of third party IP and AI.
Our work is frequently conducted against a background of time pressure and with clients whose legal and procurement teams are focussed on securing the greatest advantages they can achieve. As a result good drafting and negotiating skills are key requirements, together with good time and task management.
The OGC Commercial Team deals with high volumes of requests and the successful candidate will need to work well under pressure, leverage the expertise of colleagues and be able to analyse complicated issues requiring input from more than one area of expertise. The role also involves acting as an escalation point for more junior colleagues.

Skills and experience:
1. Strong negotiating skills
2. Experience drafting and negotiating complex, multi-jurisdictional master services agreements
3. Commercial awareness and effective risk management skills;
4. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in the UK and offshore
5. Experienced, self-sufficient and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as being a team player
6. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a demanding workload effective
7. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and produce high quality work
8. Experience of dealing with senior management and stakeholders;
9. Ability to build relationships and act as a trusted advisor;
10. Ability to provide a pragmatic, solution oriented approach to complex legal and regulatory issues;
11. Flexibility and willingness to support colleagues in other groups.
