Residential Deputy Manager Salary: £30,000 Per Annum Location: Cheshire Full-Time | Residential Care Home | Leadership Opportunity Are you an experienced care professional ready to take the next step in your leadership career? We are seeking a compassionate and driven Residential Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day operation of a well-established residential care home. Working closely with the Home Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of outstanding person-centred care, supporting staff development, maintaining regulatory compliance, and enhancing the quality of life for residents, including those living with dementia. The Role As Residential Deputy Manager, you will assist in the operational management of the home, providing leadership to care teams while ensuring residents receive safe, effective, and compassionate care. You will work both on the floor alongside the care team and in a supernumerary capacity, supporting quality assurance, staff development, care planning, and family engagement. You will also act as a champion for dementia care, helping to embed best practices and promote a positive, supportive environment for residents living with cognitive impairments. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Home Operations * Support the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the home. * Lead by example and promote a culture of dignity, respect, and person-centred care. * Provide guidance and support to care teams, ensuring high standards are maintained. * Assist with staffing, shift coverage, and operational planning as required. * Participate in the on-call rota and provide management support when necessary. Resident Care & Wellbeing * Ensure residents receive high-quality care tailored to their individual needs and preferences. * Support the development and review of person-centred care plans. * Promote residents' independence, choice, dignity, and wellbeing. * Encourage meaningful activities and social engagement within the home and wider community. * Support staff in managing complex care needs, including dementia-related behaviours. Staff Development & Performance * Supervise, mentor, and support care staff to achieve high standards of practice. * Assist with recruitment, induction, supervision, and annual appraisals. * Identify training needs and contribute to ongoing learning and development. * Promote best practice and ensure policies and procedures are consistently followed. * Support both day and night teams through coaching and leadership. Dementia Care Leadership * Promote best practice dementia care throughout the home. * Support staff in delivering person-centred approaches for residents living with dementia. * Assist in implementing activities and interventions that enhance wellbeing and engagement. * Stay informed on current dementia care practices and support continuous improvement initiatives. Family & Professional Relationships * Build strong relationships with residents, relatives, and external professionals. * Ensure families are kept informed and involved in care planning where appropriate. * Participate in relatives' meetings and resident reviews. * Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and community services. Quality, Compliance & Governance * Support compliance with CQC standards and regulatory requirements. * Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement projects. * Ensure accurate record keeping and documentation. * Assist with incident investigations, complaints management, safeguarding, and risk management processes. * Support health and safety compliance across the home. About You Essential Requirements * NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Level 4 or 5 desirable). * Previous experience within a residential care setting. * Experience supporting individuals living with dementia. * Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills. * Good understanding of person-centred care principles. * Ability to motivate and develop teams. Desirable Requirements * Previous experience in a Senior Care, Team Leader, Deputy Manager, or supervisory role. * Working knowledge of CQC regulations and care home compliance. * Dementia-specific training or qualifications.
