The Buildings Division supports clients worldwide to realise construction projects that maximise sustainability and social value for communities. Our services include cost and project management for central government, local authority, and private clients across workplace, residential, law & order, health, education, retail, sports and commercial property landscapes.
Role Overview
Senior Project Manager – responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects, integrating all stages of the RIBA life cycle to deliver timely, cost‑effective, high quality outcomes. The role will sit within the Buildings team, based at Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle or Manchester.
Senior Project Management Services
* Advises clients on strategic briefs, goals, and objectives.
* Supports client in establishing and procuring the project team.
* Defines success factors: time, cost, quality, environmental and social outcomes.
* Agrees governance structure aligned to client and legislative requirements.
* Produces detailed project execution plans and reporting.
* Leads integration of multidisciplinary services throughout the project life cycle.
* Manages change control processes and monitors performance against success indicators.
* Implements KPI‑based performance management techniques.
* Establishes communication strategy and information management plans.
* Provides team leadership, mentoring, and development of junior members.
Internal Project Management & Business Development
* Manages commissions in line with our BMS process.
* Oversees resourcing, commercial performance, risk and opportunities.
* Captures project capability through case studies and client feedback.
* Supports account leaders in developing new business opportunities.
* Manages bids through our WIN process.
* Drives innovation to improve efficiency and quality of service delivery.
Candidate Specification
* Essential
* Alignment with Mott MacDonald PRIDE values.
* Relevant project management experience in the Buildings sector.
* Knowledge and application of pre‑ and post‑contract project and contract management methodologies.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a larger team.
* Qualified as MAPM/MRICS/MCIOB or equivalent Chartered Professional; working towards ChPP/FRICS/FCIOB or equivalent.
* Desirable
* Strong relationship‑building skills; network development.
* Leadership to maximise team performance.
* Willingness to mentor and coach juniors.
* Excellent oral & written communication and organisational skills.
* Soft skills: self‑motivation, initiative, leadership, adaptability, effective listening, influence and persuasion.
* Drive to innovate and implement best practice.
