Job Overview
We’re currently looking for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Supervisor to join our Technical Services team based at the Medway Campus, University of Greenwich. In this role, you’ll be leading the on‑site residential M&E team, overseeing day‑to‑day operations, ensuring compliance, and playing a hands‑on part in both planned and reactive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise a team of on‑site engineers, supporting performance, training, and development.
* Oversee the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across M&E and building fabric systems.
* Coordinate daily operations with the Helpdesk team to ensure timely response to service requests.
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies, Safe Systems of Work, and Permit to Work procedures.
* Carry out routine audits to maintain high standards of quality, compliance, and documentation.
* Manage subcontractors and specialist suppliers from scheduling to quality assurance and safety checks.
* Maintain detailed records and reports to support decision‑making and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
* HND, NVQ or equivalent in a relevant subject.
* Extensive practical experience in building services maintenance.
* Previous appointment as an Authorised Person for one or more of the following disciplines: LV, Mechanical Services, Confined Spaces, Boiler and Pressure Systems or similar.
* Experience managing a team of engineers.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Numeracy and computer literacy.
* Desirable: Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations, Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations, Membership of the Institute of Leadership and Management, IOSH Managing Safety, Emergency First Aid qualification, IOSH Managing Safety.
* Experience working within or around World Heritage‑listed properties, buildings and environments.
