We’re looking for a Textile Workshop Facilitator to lead and manage the daily operations of a textile workshop within a structured and secure environment. In this role, you’ll work with up to 35 prisoners, teaching practical skills such as sewing, embroidery, and repairs while fostering a safe and supportive workplace.
Your work will play a vital role in preparing individuals for future employment, promoting rehabilitation through restorative practices, and contributing to their personal and professional development.
What we’re looking for:
* Experience in textile-related work, such as sewing, embroidery, or repairs.
* Proven ability to manage and motivate teams, ideally in a structured work environment.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety compliance in industrial or workshop settings.
* Ability to maintain strict security protocols and manage tools in line with prison strategies.
* Experience with restorative practices to encourage accountability and rehabilitation and familiarity with working in custodial settings or similar environments is desirable but not essential.
What you’ll do:
* Supervise daily workshop operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and organised environment.
* Train and guide prisoners in sewing, embroidery, mending, and tailoring, fostering skill development and accountability.
* Plan and manage work schedules, set production targets, and monitor progress to meet quality standards and deadlines.
* Oversee inventory, coordinate with procurement teams, and ensure resources are maintained.
* Conduct risk assessments, train on tool safety, and uphold strict security protocols.
* Collaborate with Work & Skills Coaches and custodial staff to support individual development plans.
* Maintain accurate records, including attendance, hours worked, and progress reports.
Please note: This role will be known internally as Industries Instructor
Working Hours:
This is a full-time role, 38.5 hours per week, with the following schedule:
* 38.5 hours per week, worked across 5 days, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM, with either Monday morning or Monday afternoon off.
