HR Officer (Mandarin Speaker)

Salary Range: £32,000 – £38,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of HR experience in the UK workplace
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented HR Officer with solid knowledge of UK employment practices and payroll management. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing employee records, payroll administration, and performance evaluation processes to ensure a compliant and efficient HR operation.
Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (普通话) is required, as you will liaise with both English-speaking and Mandarin-speaking employees and management teams.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
Process monthly payroll, bonuses, holidays, pensions, and statutory deductions (PAYE, NI, etc.);
Liaise with Finance and external payroll providers to ensure accuracy and timely payment;
Maintain salary change records and prepare payroll reports.
Employee Records & HR Administration
Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel files (both digital and paper-based), ensuring GDPR compliance;
Manage employment contracts, visa documentation, and HR correspondence;
Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including induction and exit interviews.
Performance Evaluation & Employee Development
Assist in implementing and managing performance review systems and KPIs;
Coordinate with department managers on appraisal meetings and feedback collection;
Support learning and development initiatives and employee training programmes.
Policy & Compliance Support
Assist in updating and implementing HR policies and procedures;
Ensure compliance with UK employment laws and internal regulations;
Provide guidance on employee relations matters such as disciplinary and grievance cases.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of HR or administrative experience within a UK-based company;
Strong understanding of UK employment law, payroll, and employee benefits;
Proficient in HR systems such as BambooHR, Sage HR, Xero, or Workday;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese (普通话);
CIPD Level 3 or above qualification preferred.
