We have an exciting opportunity based within the Counter Fraud Team. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated candidate to become a Counter Fraud Investigator. No previous investigation experience needed, we will provide all relevant training. The successful candidate will help protect the public purse by investigating allegations of fraud including: Council Tax Support Blue badge Council Tax Business Rates Adult Care Tenancy Fraud You will be trained to interview under caution and prepare cases for prosecution, as well as other sanctions. There will be occasions when participation will be needed with out of hours visits and proactive fraud exercises. Once qualified and fully trained you will have the opportunity to progress to a grade 6. About you You will have GCSE Maths and English Language (A-C/4-9) or equivalent The successful candidate must be able to work well in a small team, work under pressure to meet deadlines and be self-motivated to manage their own fraud caseload. You must have a desire to learn new skills, through the training provided, as well as having great organisation skills. You will be expected to challenge alleged offenders professionally, when conducting fraud visits, informal interviews and interviews under caution. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be working with the public, as well as teams across the Council and external agencies. In accordance with Section 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 this post requires the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
