Newhall Surgery is looking for a part-time (25 to 30 hours) dynamic and motivated NursingAssociate to join our friendly Nursing Team. The successfulcandidate will have previous experience of working within Primary Care as aNursing Associate preferably with a working knowledge and experience of NHSHealth Checks, ECGs, blood pressures, phlebotomy, foot checks, urine analysis,spirometry, ear syringing, cervical cytology, wound care, general health andlifestyle advice, vaccinations, injections and immunisations.

Main duties of the job

This is a new and additional position within our Nursing team which includes an Advanced Clinical Practitioner/Nurse Manager,Practice Nurse and a Health Care Assistant and is supported by our GP Partners,Management Team and other clinicians.

There is plenty of scope fordevelopment within the role; the Practice embraces change, welcomes new ideasand encourages progression and growth. Newhall Surgery wishes to continue toprovide an excellent service for our growing patient population.

About us

Newhall Surgery has a list sizeof approximately 11,200 patients. We have an active Patient Participation Groupand endeavour to liaise well within the local community. We are active onFacebook and have good reviews within NHS Choices.

Our clinical staff consists of 3GP Partners, 5 GPs, 3 GP Registrars, 1 Foundation Year 2 Doctor plus adedicated Nursing Team, Pharmacy Team, a Health & Wellbeing Coach and aPatient Care Coordinator.

We also have committed administrative, secretarial and care navigation members, plus ourdedicated and professional Management Team which consists of a Business Manager, Practice Manager, Patient Services Team Leader and two Management Assistants.

We are a friendly Practice whobelieve that communication, team working, well-being and learning are vital tothe success of our organisation. We have two formal 'get togethers' per yearwith other socials to help support our internal communication processes and thefeeling of 'family' within the organisation, plus monthly training events.

The Partners are very supportiveof staff and place a high value on their well-being, learning and development.

We are proud to have been awarded a rating of 'Good' at our recent CQC Inspection.

Person Specification


Experience

* Post registration experience in Primary Care
* Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams under appropriate supervision and autonomously
* Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
* Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of others and own clinical practice
* Interpreting and implementing local and national policies, agendas for health
* Maintenance of up to date skills, knowledge and understanding and on-going competence in all aspects of Primary Care
* Experience of SystmOne (or equivalent) Patient Management System


Skills / Knowledge

* Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the Practice and how the role may contribute to service development
* Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and guidance
* Understand requirements for NMC professional revalidation
* Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
* Ability to assess and manage patient risk effectively and safely in accordance with policies/procedures/protocols/legislation and the needs of the patient and to refer when clinically appropriate using agreed pathways
* Excellent ICT skills, familiar with GP clinical systems and with experience of using a range of programs and software including SystmOne, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and the internet
* Excellent Interpersonal skills and strong communication skills
* Able to engage and communicate with individuals and groups, both on a face to face basis and in writing
* A conscientious and reflective clinical practitioner
* Excellent time management skills and proven ability to prioritise workload
* Confident in the accurate analysis of date and information and identifying implications for the individual patient and impact on care plan

* Registered Nursing Associate
* Nursing Associate Foundation Degree Qualification
* A demonstrable commitment to Continuous Professional Development
