About The Power of MIND – Mums in Data
The Power of MIND (Mums in Data) is a 12-week hybrid training and employability programme designed to upskill mums with caregiving responsibilities in high-demand data roles. Delivered through a blend of instructor-led teaching, guided self‑study, workshops, live client projects, and 1‑2‑1 mentoring, the programme uses a project‑based learning model supported by industry content from Microsoft and BCS.
The programme directly addresses the UK’s growing skills gap. Nearly 48% of UK businesses are currently recruiting for data roles, with more than 234,000 vacancies industry-wide, and 46% of employers report having difficulty finding candidates with the necessary data skills. At the same time, 54.1% of mums aged 25–49 are economically inactive due to family or home responsibilities, representing a significant pool of untapped talent. Women also remain heavily under‑represented in STEM, with men outnumbering women in data roles by more than 4 to 1.
Through hands‑on, practical training, participants gain technical skills in data analysis, data management, data protection, alongside essential soft skills such as communication, problem‑solving, confidence building, and presentation skills. The programme integrates tailored employability support, including CV optimisation, interview preparation, job‑search strategy, networking skills, and ongoing post‑programme mentoring.
By unlocking the potential of mums returning from career breaks, The Power of MIND reduces barriers to employment, tackles gender inequality in the data sector, increases local economic participation, and supplies employers with diverse, motivated, and job‑ready talent equipped for modern data‑ and compliance‑driven roles.
