E-7 – AEW&C Mission Systems Field Service Representative

Introduction
Boeing Defence United Kingdom (BDUK), through its Aircraft Support Programme, provides sustainment and delegated design support services to multiple rotary and fixed wing aircraft including, AH-64E, CH-47, C-17, P8-A and E-7. Boeing employs over 2,000 people across the UK at numerous sites, and the company is experiencing solid organic growth.
We are currently looking for an experienced Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Mission Systems Field Service Representative to join the BDUK E-7 MK1 Wedgetail AEW&C Sustaining Engineering team. This position will be located at RAF Lossiemouth, in support the UK’s fleet of E-7 Wedgetail AEW&C aircraft providing specialist Field Engineering, in-service support and stakeholder liaison for mission systems on the UK E-7 Wedgetail.
Role
The AEW&C Mission Systems Field Service Representative is the primary interface between Boeing, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) Military / Approved Maintenance Organisations (M/AMOs), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and internal Boeing stakeholders for mission systems on the E-7. You will provide an in-service technical query service, advice, trouble shooting, fault investigations, repairs, system-level testing and configuration management support for mission sensors, mission computers, operator consoles, tactical data links, communications suites, surveillance subsystems, mission software and supporting power/signal distribution systems utilising authority and Boeing approved technical data sets.
With platform reach back support to the platform Design Organisation, you will be responsible for leading research on technical, operational and quality issues using a number of different systems and techniques including analytics to assist with investigations to evaluate user and supplier reported discrepancies that cannot be resolved by the customer.
As part of the Sustaining Engineering team, you will coordinate between Military and Approved Maintenance Organisations, the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation, Engineering Authority, Design Organisation, Original Equipment Manufacturers and Boeing functions. Therefore, in an in-depth working knowledge of defence regulations is essential with civil equivalence a desirable. Accountable to Engineering stakeholders you will be responsible for adherence with regulatory articles, defence standards, company policies, processes and procedures in order to maintain regulatory compliance and certifications.
You will apply knowledge of technical publications and instructions to provide resolutions to customer queries e.g. UK Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals, Repair manuals, Technical Manuals (aircraft and component level), Digital Air Publications, and drawing sets. Your ability to interpret, provide advice on the applicability and how to comply with Design Organisation authored modifications, service bulletins, service / part notifications and authority generated special technical instructions is a key support attribute needed for the role. You will be required to apply knowledge of Missions System operation to analyse, develop and maintain technical data to resolve problems for aircraft and component systems to support safe and efficient operation.

This includes supporting business improvements such as Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI), Continuous Improvement (CI) and Employee Engagement type events deploying best practices to maintain and improve standards for all Boeing business functions.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
1. A significant amount of demonstrated Boeing military and/or commercial fixed wing experience and knowledge in aircraft maintenance procedures, practices, Engineering drawings, standards and specifications to support the sustainment of E-7 MK1. This shall cover all aircraft, avionic and electrical and mission systems. Due to the complex integration of the systems with mechanical and propulsion systems, a high-level systems knowledge of the Mechanical/propulsion aspects of the Boeing 737NG or equivalent is desirable.
2. An extensive knowledge of repair, maintenance, and retrofit processes and practices.
3. Extensive and specialised knowledge of UK MOD military aircraft maintenance processes, policies, organisation, capabilities, practices, support resources, preferences, problems, and other constraints in order to effectively represent the customer within the Boeing Company. Knowledge and experience of MoD projects, related is advantageous.
4. Knowledge of the Manual of Maintenance and Airworthiness Processes (MAM-P), associated MAA Regulatory Publications (MRP) and Defence Standards pertaining to maintenance, aircraft repairs and pre- and post-delivery aircraft modifications.
5. Extensive and specialised ability to analyse and interpret product data (e.g. Engineering drawings, Part Lists, Supplier data, Wiring Diagrams and Schematics)
6. Ability to research and apply Engineering principles to determine solutions to technical, operational and quality issues.
7. Strong customer focus with the capacity to communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders in order to resolve problems.
8. Effective collaboration with team members, other employees and external customers. Placing higher priority on team and organisation goals above personal goals is essential.
9. Ability to direct, communicate clearly, delegate and ensure performance of assigned responsibilities and tasks as a leader.
10. An understanding of financial performance metrics, and ability to apply cost and schedule variance analysis techniques.
11. Previous experience with UK MOD Resolve and GOLDesp is desirable.
12. An Engineering degree with professional registration is desired but not essential. You will be considered if you are able to demonstrate a significant amount of related certificated work experience supported with a defence or civil indentured apprenticeship, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of aircraft depth and fleeted maintenance.
