About the Centre:
The Centre for Equalities in Uniformed Public Services is a £11.3 million investment by UKRI, enhancing ARU's research capacity. Its objectives include producing excellent research on cultural transformation in public services and fostering collaboration with various organizations to address equality, diversity, and inclusion. The Centre integrates strengths from ARU's Veterans and Families Institute (VFI) and the International Policing and Public Protection Research Institute (IPPPRI).
About the Role:
This new position, developed in partnership with CEEUPS and Student and Library Services, is based on the Chelmsford campus. It involves establishing and managing a Social Sciences Research Repository, focusing on archiving and managing research data and materials.
The role includes setting up the Repository, managing daily operations such as digitization, advising users on accessing and interpreting archival data, cataloging collections, and managing records. The position is funded and line-managed by CEEUPS, with mentoring support from Student and Library Services as needed.
You will also assist users with research and reference needs, recommend materials for projects, and prepare finding aids and descriptive access tools, including encoded finding aids.
Candidates should have a degree or be part-qualified in a relevant field, with experience in archival collection curation, including appraisal, arrangement, description, conservation, and digitization. Familiarity with archive cataloguing, metadata schemas (e.g., ISAD(G)), procurement of archival systems, and working with research data is advantageous.
