About the role
You will act as the lead advisor to the Council on all Sustainability & Transport matters, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, consistently, and in line with corporate objectives. This role involves managing a large, multi-disciplinary team (including direct supervision of three Service Managers) and overseeing significant budgets exceeding £8m per annum.
You will also play a critical role in emergency response planning, policy development, and driving innovation to achieve the highest standards of performance across our services.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
1. Is educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) and demonstrates ongoing professional development.
2. Has at least 5 years’ experience managing teams, with a proven track record of improving performance and delivering high-quality outcomes.
3. Possesses a thorough understanding of legislation and regulation relating to sustainability and transport services.
4. Demonstrates strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage change effectively.
