Working for a global leader in Luton, this contract role requires a competent Manufacturing Test Engineer for an immediate start.

As a knowledgeable Manufacturing Test Engineer in the electronics field you will undertake the following duties for this contract:

1. Develop and maintain test systems using National Instruments (NI) hardware and LabVIEW software / Test Stand in a production environment.
2. Design, implement and liaise with equipment suppliers for automated test equipment (ATE) and test fixtures to support the manufacturing process of both low and high volume.
3. A very strong understanding of analogue and digital electronic circuits.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, production engineers, and quality assurance personnel, to identify test requirements and develop appropriate test strategies.
5. Analyse test data to identify trends and areas for improvement in the manufacturing process and provide recommendations to optimise product quality and safety.
6. Create and maintain detailed documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reports, in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
7. Provide technical support to production staff in resolving testing issues and ensuring the smooth operation of test equipment.
8. Experience of extracting, exporting and analysing test data, specifically with SQL and MySQL.
9. Reverse engineer existing equipment to understand their functionality, identify areas for improvement and to optimise test process.
10. Create detailed specifications for new equipment, prepare Capital Expenditure applications and liaise with respected suppliers.
11. A ‘hands-on’ approach will be required at times for shopfloor support.

The following background knowledge is required for this manufacturing test engineer:

12. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field id preferred.
13. Minimum of 5 – 8 years of experience in a manufacturing test engineering role, preferably in the field of intrinsically safe products or other electronic devices.
14. Strong proficiency in LabVIEW software, TestStand and NI products, including hardware platforms such as PXI, cRIO, and cDAQ.
15. Experience in designing and implementing ATE and test fixtures for manufacturing environments.
16. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to intrinsically safe products and hazardous area certifications (e.g., ATEX, IECEx).
17. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
18. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively document and present technical information.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.30am – 17.00pm, salary is £25.18 per hour.
