Job Title: HSE Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Specialist to join our client\'s project team for a major substation expansion project. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all site activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with relevant legislation, company standards, and client requirements.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain HSE plans, procedures, and risk assessments specific to substation and electrical construction activities.
* Monitor site operations to ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and permit conditions.
* Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up on corrective actions.
* Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and HSE training to site personnel and subcontractors.
* Promote a proactive HSE culture across all project teams.
* Liaise with project management, engineering, and client representatives to align safety objectives and performance targets.
* Manage environmental monitoring, waste management, and pollution prevention measures.
* Support emergency preparedness and response planning.
Qualifications & Experience
* NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety).
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in HSE roles within the power, utilities, or heavy construction sectors.
* Proven experience working on substation, transmission, or electrical infrastructure projects.
* Strong knowledge of relevant HSE legislation, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse teams.
* Valid CSCS / Safety Passport or equivalent.
