THE EMPLOYER IS: EDERNEY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TRUST Ederney Community Development Trust wish to appoint a Community Tearoom Assistant to help service delivery in our Community Tearooms for local older people to build connections and reduce loneliness. Our Community Tearooms is a warm welcoming place open Tuesday to Friday each week, where residents from our community can freely come together for a tea or coffee and some light food. It is a space where people can just talk and listen, treat everyone the same, help each other through tough times and don't judge or try to fix each other. The Community Tearoom Assistant will provide excellent customer service to ensure that users of the Hub experience a welcoming, friendly, efficient service. Murphy’s on Main Street Community Hub gives older people in our community a sense of belonging to their space and purpose to their day alongside providing education around key identified themes such as mental health and wellbeing, stress and mood and low impact physical exercise. There is a focus on creativity and affording opportunities to try new experiences through cultural and arts activities, digital enablement, reading and exploring literature and self-care by teaching how to find your calm through exercise and group activities.
Responsibilities
* Preparing and serving Barista and other drinks, and service of light food (scones, traybakes, biscuits, etc.)
* Undertake general cleaning as directed by the Community Hub Manager.
* Ensuring that the outer areas of the Tearoom are presentable, tidy and clean for the public use.
* Ensuring high standard of customer service to all visitors and staff at all times.
* Ensuring tables are cleared, cleaned and prepared quickly and efficiently after customers have left.
* Ensuring crockery, cutlery and glassware are cleaned and returned for use as quickly and efficiently as possible.
* Maintaining Health and Safety standards, including allergens and COSHH regulations.
* Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned regularly to the required standard.
* Ensure stock merchandise and food displays are replenished in a timely and attractive manner reporting any shortages to the Community Hub Manager.
* Ensuring the Community Tearoom is prepared and suitable for visitors prior to opening.
* Ensuring that the outer areas of the Community Tearoom are presentable, tidy and clean for the public use.
* Cash handling, including opening and closing till.
* Assisting with food service delivery during hospitality events.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
* 3 GCSEs at grade 9-3 (A star-D) or equivalent.
* Experience of hospitality service to the public in a work or voluntary capacity.
* Experience of providing good customer care either as an employee or as a volunteer.
* Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2.
Desirable Skills
* NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
* Experience of engaging with a variety of ages, abilities and communities.
* Experience of community related work.
* Barista training.
* Food Allergen Awareness training.
