Responsibilities
* Produce design briefs for permanent works
* Ensure consultants are appointed appropriately
* Lead technical reviews of submissions from our design partners
* Ensure conformance to the Murphy Design Management procedure
* Lead design matters on small/medium/large/mega sized project/s as directed
* Allocate design tasks to individuals/companies as required and maintain associated RACI
* Manage day to day interface between design and construction teams and maintain its adequate records
* Review design progress according to programme and contractual requirements
* Lead constructability reviews
* Involvement in work winning to ensure consultants and engaged appropriately and adequate allowances are included in the bid
* Assist Senior Design Managers, consultants and multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver the design solutions to schedule and budget to a high standard of professional competence
* Management of design change to support best outcome for the project
* Support with management of risk and opportunity in design
Qualifications
* Significant experience in a design management role within the construction sector.
* Management skills – confident in managing staff, clients, design budgets and programmes
* Flexibility and willingness to travel
* HND or Engineering Degree qualified
* Member of a recognised engineering institution. Incorporated Engineer or Chartered and/or working towards membership
