Freelance AI Agent Engineer (Remote)
📍 Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom | Remote | Flexible Project-Based Opportunity
A leading AI training and research platform is seeking experienced software engineers to contribute to the development of next-generation autonomous AI agents. This opportunity focuses on improving how Large Language Models (LLMs) reason, coordinate, and execute complex multi-step workflows through technical evaluation and structured human feedback.
Engineers will work on real-world AI orchestration challenges involving backend systems, automation workflows, live integrations, and multi-turn agent interactions.
What You'll Work On
* Evaluate and improve advanced AI agent behaviour across complex workflows.
* Build and analyse modular systems for parsing, reasoning, orchestration, and reporting.
* Provide detailed technical feedback on AI-generated outputs and system performance.
* Work with live integrations and production-style environments rather than simulated workflows.
* Contribute to improving reliability, reasoning, and decision-making in autonomous systems.
Ideal Background
* 2+ years of experience in backend engineering, automation engineering, or systems integration.
* Strong coding ability in at least two languages such as Python, JavaScript, Go, or Java.
* Experience working with SQL databases and modular software architectures.
* Comfortable analysing complex technical behaviour and identifying optimisation opportunities.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
Nice to Have
* Experience building orchestration or multi-stage automation systems.
* Familiarity with API integrations such as Supabase, Gmail, or similar platforms.
* Exposure to persistent memory/session tracking systems.
* Understanding of AI safety risks including prompt injection, privilege escalation, or data leakage.
This is a fully remote opportunity suited to engineers looking to apply their technical expertise to cutting-edge AI systems in a highly flexible environment.
