About the role:
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer or Mechanical Engineer for a full-time 38-hour per week contract, paid salary or hourly.
Your main responsibilities will include creating new concepts and designs for mechanical equipment and products using 3D CAD, and producing manufacturing documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform mechanical design work to solve new problems.
2. Develop new ideas and concepts.
3. Reverse engineer from 3D scans or physical parts.
4. Ensure designs comply with Australian Design Standards.
5. Verify designs through strength analysis using hand calculations and FEA (Mechanical Engineer role).
6. Produce engineering certifications and reports (Mechanical Engineer role).
7. Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
8. Experience with mechanical equipment, especially dynamic moving designs.
9. Proficiency in SolidWorks / PDM.
10. Experience with sheet metal, weldments, and related drawings.
11. Drafting to AS1100 standards.
12. Good verbal and written English skills.
13. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
14. Passion for mechanical engineering.
15. Team player with collaborative spirit in an R&D environment.
16. Ability to work dynamically in a consulting setting.
Mechanical Engineer specific skills:
* Proficiency in ANSYS.
Mechanical Designer specific qualifications:
* Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Desirable (not essential):
* Experience with 3D scanning (handheld and terrestrial).
* Skills in 3D processing software like Design X.
* Programming knowledge.
