Job Overview
You will provide assistance to residents in need of physical personal care and carry out individual tasks with residents in line with their support plans, to maintain or improve their quality of life and be able to recognise signs of distress in residents. You will work with the team to identify and assess positive ways to reduce distress and give residents control over their lives wherever possible.
About You
* Experience of working in a customer focused, residential environment, offering personal care to a diverse group of people
* Awareness of housing and health and safety legislation and regulation, national care standards awareness
* Flexibility to work hours to meet customer and business needs, including outside of normal office hours and lone working

Role Profile
* Work as part of a committed and compassionate team, delivering an outstanding experience to customers whilst being supported by your colleagues and line manager.
* Recognise and identify each individual customer’s needs to ensure a person‑centred approach by delivering and enabling customers to meet the aspirations within their individual support plans.
* Provide direct personal care in line with CQC definitions including showering, shaving, toileting, continence management and personal hygiene.
* Help customers with bed, wake up, dress and maintain personal appearance.
* Safely assist with customers’ mobility difficulties using assessed equipment, aids, or manual handling equipment.
* Administer and support medication for customers.
* Assist with preparation of meals, snacks and drinks.
* Perform light general household duties such as cleaning, laundry and ironing.
* Help with management of personal affairs when part of support plan, e.g., reading letters, managing utilities, handling money for shopping.
* Communicate clearly, building trusted relationships with customers and wider support network.
* Provide companionship, engaging in conversation.
* Encourage customers to participate in social activities and feel part of the community.
* Ensure safety at all times by following Riverside policies and procedures.
* Take pride in creating a safe, comfortable and respectful living environment.
* Maintain detailed, accurate records of care, medication support and tasks undertaken.
* Promptly report concerns related to care, support, wellbeing or behaviour to a manager and keep comprehensive records, ensuring confidentiality.
* Recognise signs of abuse and report immediately following safeguarding procedures.
* Record complaints and discuss procedure with customers.

Other Duties
* Work a range of shifts on a 24 hour, 7 days per week rota basis.
* Undertake regular training to deliver the role safely.
* Occasionally undertake additional duties and responsibilities of equivalent nature, in consultation with line manager.

Person Specification
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
* Experience of working in a team and communicating positively with others.
* Experience of organising tasks and planning whilst dealing with people.
* Be caring, empathetic, flexible and have a resilient, can‑do attitude.
* Use initiative and confidence to make and act on decisions.
* Basic administrative and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Desirable:
* Awareness of CQC standards.
* Experience of providing direct care to a diverse group of customers.
