Key Responsibilities
* Demonstrate best practice on using equipment safely and monitor teams to ensure everyone follows the correct processes.
* Keep track of equipment performance through visual checks, condition‑based monitoring, and preventive maintenance tasks, and schedule additional servicing when required.
* Supervise technicians on shift to support their development and act as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers.
* Solve equipment issues to reduce downtime for operations so packages can be processed quickly.
* Support continuous improvement of systems and standardise processes across the EU network.
A Day in the Life
As a Senior RME Technician at BHX10, you’ll lead a team ensuring that merch‑on‑demand production equipment—such as Kornit printers, fixation systems and heat presses—runs safely and reliably. You’ll coordinate preventive maintenance, support rapid troubleshooting and ensure compliance with safety procedures including LOTO, risk assessments and VSOPs. Using operational data and system monitoring tools, you’ll identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, quality and efficiency. Working closely with operations and your RME Manager, you’ll help implement improvements across the site. This role operates on shift patterns, including nights and weekends, with strong opportunities for progression within Amazon RME.
About the Team
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team keeps the equipment at BHX10 performing at its best. We’re a technically skilled team of engineers and technicians who work together to maintain, troubleshoot and repair the specialised production equipment that powers Amazon’s Merch on Demand business. From DTG printers and fixation systems to heat presses and supporting automation, we ensure our equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently. The team also plays a key role in maintaining site compliance and implementing improvements that increase uptime and performance. We focus on reducing downtime so customers receive high‑quality products on time, continually identifying opportunities to improve processes, introduce new technology and drive innovation across the network.
Basic Qualifications
* High school or equivalent diploma.
* NVQ Level 3 / SVQ Level 3 / IVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 / EAL Level 3 specialised in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics.
* 4 years UK certified apprenticeship.
* Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
* Experience in automated conveyor systems and controls, electrical and electronic principles, preventive maintenance procedures, blueprint and schematic reading, industrial electrical, industrial controls, industrial electronics, PLC programming, NEC, and work order management.
* Experience using CMMS to plan proactive maintenance and record reactive tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
* Associate’s degree in Mechatronics or a related technical field.
* Experience in vendor management.
* Experience with robotic maintenance.
* Experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or tech lead.
* Experience working with material handling equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with OEM requirements.
