About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Finance and Payroll Assistant to join our busy school office team. This role supports the School Business Manager with a range of finance and payroll administration tasks, ensuring smooth and compliant financial operations across the school.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small, supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
* Process purchase orders, invoices, and direct debits
* Support the administration of payroll, including data entry for starters, leavers, and changes
* Prepare sales invoices and manage petty cash
* Reconcile bank and credit card transactions
* Maintain accurate financial records for audit purposes
* Provide financial and purchasing support to staff
* Handle sensitive data confidentially and in line with GDPR requirements
We are looking for someone who
* Has experience of financial administration (ideally in a school or public sector setting)
* Has sound knowledge of finance systems, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office
* Can communicate clearly and work to deadlines
* Demonstrates initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving
* Understands the importance of accuracy and confidentiality
* Is committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of pupils
* Relevant finance or bookkeeping qualifications and knowledge of local authority systems are desirable
