🌱 Sustainability Lead – Major Construction Project (High Wycombe)

Location: High Wycombe, UK

Contract: Full-time

Sector: Construction / Infrastructure

Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum plus additional benefits


About the Opportunity

My client are seeking an experienced and motivated Sustainability Lead to join our team on a flagship construction project based in High Wycombe. This is a high-profile, complex development that will set new standards for environmental responsibility, low-carbon construction, and long-term social value. If you are passionate about driving real, measurable sustainability outcomes across the built environment, we want to hear from you.


Key Responsibilities

As Sustainability Lead, you will play a central role in shaping and implementing the project’s sustainability strategy. Your responsibilities will include:

* Developing and delivering the project-wide Sustainability and Environmental Management Plan
* Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, client targets, and relevant certifications (e.g., BREEAM, CEEQUAL, PAS 2080)
* Supporting the design, engineering, and construction teams to embed sustainability principles from concept through to delivery
* Monitoring carbon, waste, water, and energy performance, and driving continuous improvement
* Leading sustainability reporting and presenting progress to senior stakeholders
* Coordinating environmental risk assessments and site audits
* Engaging supply chain partners to promote responsible sourcing and ethical practices
* Developing community, biodiversity, and social value initiatives aligned with project goals
* Acting as a visible champion for sustainability across the project site


About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

* Proven experience in sustainability management within the construction or infrastructure sector
* Strong understanding of UK environmental regulations and industry best practice
* Experience with certification schemes (e.g., BREEAM, CEEQUAL) and carbon management frameworks
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels
* A proactive mindset and passion for driving cultural change
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering) or equivalent experience
