Role Description
A highly visible and influential role within the organisation, the Finance Director has full responsibility for all financial policies and procedures across the company. This person will be responsible for ensuring that all internal and financial controls are robust and are adhered to and for ensuring that the finance team are viewed as a supportive and helpful service function to the entire business, including the dealer network. In particular, this position will be responsible for managing the company’s vehicle funding and cashflow requirements. The holder must establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Managing Director and maintain a dotted line reporting responsibility to the Bassadone Automotive Group.
Role Responsibilities
* Lead the company’s finance and accounting strategy, driving performance and supporting overall business growth.
* Provide financial analysis and guidance to inform strategic decisions, plans, and targets
* Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
* Ensure robust internal controls, compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements (HMRC, Companies House, FCA), and alignment with legislation
* Manage external relationships with auditors, banks, funders, insurers, and advisors, ensuring smooth audits and strong credibility
* Lead and develop the finance team, overseeing accounting operations, payroll, and supplier payments
* Review vehicle production orders to ensure funding lines are secured and manage reporting for group entities
* Identify and mitigate financial risks while seeking opportunities to strengthen the company’s financial position
* Ad hoc duties as required – willingness to assist other team members during busy periods.
Work Experience Requirements
* Essential: Qualified Accountant with suitable Finance Director senior financial experience in a medium sized business, across a number of businesses
* Previous senior level motor trade financial management experience, ideally with an importer, is preferrable
Qualifications
* Holder of a professional accounting qualification including, but not limited to, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
* Achievement of a relevant University degree is also preferrable
