Legal Executive
Location: Warrington, WA3 7PB – Hybrid

Band: 5 Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience)
Serco’s Electronic Monitoring Services (EMS) contract is one of the UK’s most significant public safety programmes, supporting the Ministry of Justice with the delivery of national tagging and monitoring services. Our purpose is clear: enhance public safety, reduce reoffending, and harness advanced data to deliver better outcomes for communities.
Responsibilities
* Manage and triage matters through the team’s case management systems
* Produce and deliver training and reference materials for internal stakeholders
* Undertake legal research and present findings accurately and promptly
* Provide legal support to senior lawyers, Heads of Department and subject matter experts
* Maintain and update precedent banks, templates and reference materials
* Build strong working relationships across the EMS contract and wider Legal & Commercial teams
* Collaborate with insurance teams, the Customer and internal stakeholders to maintain accurate records
* Organise case files, attend court inquests or tribunals, prepare litigation bundles and file documents where required
* Draft reports, complete official documentation and assist with witness statements or expert meetings
* Prepare management information, analyse data, identify trends and elevate concerns where needed
* Work in accordance with risk, compliance and GDPR requirements
Qualifications
* CILEX (preferably with Litigation Rights) or Solicitor qualification
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
* Desire to learn litigation and internal legal processes
* Commitment to continuous improvement and challenging the status‑quo
* Strong self‑development mindset and willingness to grow within the role
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport at all levels
* Clear, concise and persuasive communication skills – both written and verbal
* Ability to manage a diverse caseload and adapt to changing priorities
* Inclusive, approachable and collaborative nature
* Ability to achieve BPSS Clearance
