We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide a high quality of care to patients in our Children’s Outpatients.
Our Children’s outpatient services provide clinics for children and young people aged 0–18 across two sites.
Main duties of the job
* Work under the direction and support of a Registered Children’s Nurse, providing both clinical and administrative duties within defined parameters specified by the registered nurse.
* Record patient information.
* Book and manage appointments using the Lorenzo computer‑based system.
* Assist in the delivery of clinical care to children and young people, trained to undertake blood testing, ECGs and patient observations under the direction of a registered nurse.
* Be aware of the structure and organisation of the NHS.
Person specification
Essential and Desirable
* Completion of the NHS Care Certificate or relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to complete the care certificate within the first 3 months of employment.
* Knowledge of care and related procedures.
* Experience of completing patient care records.
* Ability to communicate factual information clearly and effectively with tact and empathy, overcoming barriers to communication such as physical impairments or mental health/learning disabilities.
* Ability to deliver, with appropriate training and competency assessment, a range of clinical care duties such as (but not limited to): clinic observations, blood glucose monitoring, ECGs, simple wound dressings.
