Overview:
Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment (Formerly Hutcheon Mearns) are seeking a motivated and driven Recruitment Consultant to join our Accountancy & Finance division in Edinburgh. You will specialise in sourcing high-calibre finance professionals across transactional accountancy as well as part-qualified finance roles. This is a fast-paced, relationship-driven market that requires excellent communication skills and a strong grasp of financial functions within SMEs, large corporates, and professional services firms. This role would be well suited to someone with some recruitment experience, sales experience and we're very open to recent graduates looking to forge a career in recruitment.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Development & Relationship Management
* Build, manage, and grow relationships with clients across a wide variety of industry sectors
* Develop new business through targeted outreach, networking, and attending industry-relevant events
* Take detailed job briefs, gaining an understanding of employer expectations, team structure, and key competencies required for their finance team & needs
* Advise hiring managers on market trends, candidate availability, salary levels, and recruitment strategies specific to the Accountancy & Finance sector
Candidate Attraction & Management
* Source high-quality candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, networking, referrals, and proactive market mapping
* Interview candidates to assess technical accounting knowledge, qualification stage (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAS), and cultural fit
* Present well-prepared shortlists to clients with clearly outlined suitability to their vacancy
* Manage candidates throughout the recruitment process, preparing them for interviews, handling feedback, negotiating offers, and supporting counter-offer/resignation stages
Recruitment Delivery
* Manage and grow a portfolio of permanent, temporary, or interim Accountancy & Finance roles, specifically transactional, up to part-qualified finance
* Write targeted and engaging job adverts for roles such as Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Management Accountant, Purchase Ledger & Credit Control
* Maintain accurate and detailed candidate and client records through our system
* Work to activity, placement, and revenue targets aligned to business budget & growth plans
Market Insight & Brand Representation
* Stay up to date with market changes including qualification pathways, newly emerging finance skills, reporting regulations, and salary movements
* Build a strong personal brand within the Scottish Accountancy & Finance recruitment market
* Attend accountancy networking events, industry seminars, and professional body meetings (e.g., ICAS, ACCA) to engage with talent and hiring managers
Personal Attributes & Skills:
* Experience in recruitment or strong sales/business development background
* Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage multiple workloads and work to targets in a fast-paced environment
* Confident using IT systems and standard IT tools
* Commercially minded with a professional and credible manner
* Motivated, resilient, and results-driven
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail
* Positive team player who can also work independently
