A well-established environmental consultancy with a strong presence across Scotland is seeking to appoint a Consultant or Senior Ecologist to support continued growth within its ecology team.
The organisation has built a solid reputation for delivering high-quality ecological advice across sectors including renewable energy, infrastructure, and development.
Your new role
In this role, you will be involved in delivering a wide range of ecological services, from field surveys through to reporting and project support. You will work as part of a collaborative team on diverse and technically interesting projects across Scotland.
At senior level, you will take on increased responsibility for project management, client liaison, and mentoring junior team members.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Undertaking ecological surveys, including habitat and protected species surveys
* Assisting with and producing technical reports such as PEAs, EcIAs, EIAs, and HRAs
* Supporting project delivery to ensure work is completed on time and within budget
* Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities
* Contributing to mitigation strategies and ecological input to planning
* At Senior level: managing projects and supporting junior staff development
What you'll need to succeed
* A degree in ecology or a related discipline
* Experience within ecological consultancy or a similar environment
* Knowledge of UK and Scottish wildlife legislation and planning policy
* Experience in habitat surveys and at least one protected species group
* Strong report writing and communication skills
* Proven experience managing ecological projects
* Ability to work independently and oversee project delivery
* Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues
* A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEEM)
* Protected species licences
* Experience in infrastructure or renewable energy projects
* GIS capability
