🧪 Biopharma Technical Development | Analytical Development | Vaccines & Biologics
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Analytical Development Scientist to join a highly collaborative Biopharma Technical Development team supporting the development of innovative biologics and vaccine products within a global R&D environment.
This is a predominantly laboratory-based role focused on the development, optimisation, and validation of analytical methods supporting microbial and cell culture process development programmes. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic technical team driving analytical innovation across early and late-stage development projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and optimise analytical methods supporting biologics and vaccine development programmes
* Perform hands-on laboratory experimentation using techniques including: HPLC, ELISA, UV spectroscopy and CE-SDS
* Support analytical activities across development laboratories and pilot plant environments
* Interpret experimental data and provide technical recommendations to support project progression
* Deliver technical reports, presentations, and project updates to internal stakeholders
* Support method qualification, fit-for-purpose validation, and analytical troubleshooting activities
* Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and Good Research Practice standards
* Collaborate cross-functionally with global technical teams and external partners
* Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation initiatives across the analytical development function
Requirements
* Degree, MSc, or PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biologics, Immunology, or related scientific discipline
* Strong hands-on analytical development experience within biopharma, biologics, vaccines, or related environments
* Experience developing and optimising analytical methods using HPLC, ELISA, UV, and/or CE-SDS
* Good understanding of protein chemistry, CQAs, impurities, and stability assessment
* Experience supporting method validation or fit-for-purpose studies
* Strong technical problem-solving and data interpretation skills
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional R&D teams
Desirable Experience
* Mass spectrometry or structural analytical experience
* Cell-based assay development or characterisation experience
* Experience within regulated GxP/GRP laboratory environments
* Bioprocessing, microbial, or cell culture development exposure
