Modern Studies & Geography Teacher

Reed Education are working in partnership with a boarding school in Dunblane to recruit a Teacher of Modern Studies and Geography. The Role
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality learning and teaching in Modern Studies and Geography in line with Curriculum for Excellence and national expectations for Scottish education.
You will play a key role in promoting attainment, achievement, literacy, critical thinking, and global citizenship, while supporting learners to develop analytical skills, political and social awareness, and an understanding of global issues.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, you will contribute to interdisciplinary learning, pupil support, and the broader life of the school, including its boarding provision.
Key Responsibilities
Learning and Teaching
* Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons across BGE and Senior Phase
* Plan differentiated learning in line with Curriculum for Excellence
* Promote high standards of attainment, behaviour, and achievement
* Deliver National Qualifications where appropriate
* Use a range of assessment approaches to monitor progress
* Provide clear and constructive feedback to learners
* Use digital technology effectively in the classroom
* Ensure inclusive learning experiences for all pupils
Curriculum Development
* Contribute to departmental planning and self-evaluation
* Support the development of Modern Studies and Geography curriculum
* Engage in moderation and collegiate working
* Contribute to interdisciplinary learning and Learning for Sustainability
Qualifications & Assessment
* Deliver National 4, National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher (as appropriate)
* Prepare pupils for assessments and examinations
* Support coursework, assignments, and independent learning
* Maintain accurate tracking and assessment records
Wider School Contribution
* Support extra-curricular activities, trips, and fieldwork
* Contribute to debates, citizenship, and global awareness initiatives
* Play an active role in the school’s boarding and community life
Pastoral Care
* Build positive relationships with pupils
* Support wellbeing and pastoral care systems
* Promote inclusion, equality, and positive behaviour
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and families
About You
Essential
* Degree in Modern Studies, Geography, or a related subject
* Full GTCS registration
* Ability to teach both subjects
* Experience delivering secondary education and National Qualifications
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and the wider school ethos
Desirable
* Experience teaching Higher or Advanced Higher
* Experience with fieldwork and educational visits
* Background in boarding education
* Interest in debating, Model United Nations, or global education
* Experience supporting diverse school communities
