Overview
Our award‑winning Corporate Governance team, part of MUFG Corporate Markets, is one of the largest company secretarial providers in the UK and is well‑known for its expertise in corporate governance advisory services and company secretarial administration.
The Assistant Consultant role provides you with an opportunity to work closely with experienced governance professionals in the delivery of a broad range of tasks, including meeting support, statutory and regulatory compliance and corporate governance best‑practice advice to clients, including London‑listed public companies. The role is a stepping stone to becoming a Company Secretary, with support to develop towards the Chartered Secretary / Governance Professional qualification.

What you need
* A demonstrable, comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the company secretarial profession and corporate governance, with an understanding of the basic principles of UK company law, regulation and best practice.
* The drive and desire to work within a dynamic, fast‑paced team environment.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients and colleagues at all levels, preferably gained in a client or customer‑facing environment.
* A creative approach to problem solving, with an innate ability to remain calm under pressure and in changing circumstances.
* Meticulous attention to detail, with excellent organisational and project management skills.
* A proactive and flexible approach to your workload with the ability to plan, organise and handle conflicting deadlines.
* A recognised degree or Masters, preferably in Law, Governance, Business or Finance at a 2:1 or above.
* Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
It would be nice to have
* CGI (Chartered Governance Institute) qualified or part‑qualified Company Secretary, with demonstrable experience working in a company secretarial role, ideally within a professional services environment or a desire to be part of one.
* Commercial and business awareness, with experience within or an understanding of a professional services environment and the drive and desire to contribute to a growing business.
Day to Day Responsibilities
* Carry out your Assistant Consultant duties in a professional manner, in accordance with the policies, procedures, legal and regulatory expectations, drawing on the support of the team when required.
* Develop and maintain an understanding of any relevant legal and regulatory requirements whilst undertaking all required technical training to apply to the job role.
* Ensure the quality and accuracy of the work you produce.
* Effectively build and manage work relationships with colleagues and engage with clients and intermediaries.
As your career grows and you work towards becoming a Consultant, you may be involved in
* Providing support to private and listed company Boards and Committees as a Consultant, including attendance at meetings in a minute‑taking and advisory capacity.
* Ensuring compliance with all Stock Exchange requirements, including listing, statutory and regulatory requirements, Stock Market announcements and compliance with Market Abuse Regulations (MAR).
* Maintaining corporate registers, Director details and records for client entities from a regulatory, statutory governance reporting requirements perspective.
* Preparing, coordinating and releasing regulatory announcements on behalf of client companies using a range of RIS portals.
* Drafting and reviewing the non‑financial section of Annual Reports and Accounts, preparing and filing relevant statutory submissions and returns on behalf of clients.
