Overview
What follows is the role of a Management Accountant at JCB within the Sales Finance team. The role is highly visible and valued, partnering with colleagues across the business and external stakeholders to support confident, informed decision-making. A qualified (or near-qualified) accountant with experience in management accounts and the ability to turn numbers into meaningful insight is well suited for this opportunity. You will be a trusted go-to for finance queries, known for an approachable style, clear communication, and the ability to bring clarity to complexity. This role offers exposure, relationship-building, and opportunities to grow while contributing to financial accuracy and continuous improvement of the Finance function.
What this role involves day to day
As a Management Accountant, you will provide valuable financial insight and support to ensure accurate reporting, effective cost management, and robust financial control across the business. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the Assistant Financial Controller with month end reporting activities
* Preparing and clearly explaining key variances, providing insight and context for stakeholders
* Leading forecasting and budgeting, partnering with non-Finance teams to build monthly overhead forecasts and the annual budget
* Completing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving issues in a timely way
* Managing and maintaining the fixed asset register, including monitoring capital expenditure and forecasting future requirements
* Completing accruals and prepayments, posting journals accurately and on time
* Supporting continuous improvement and standardisation, helping to build an even more efficient Finance function
It would be great if you also have...
* Experience supporting forecasting/budgeting cycles or partnering with stakeholders outside Finance
* An interest in improving ways of working - spotting opportunities to simplify, standardise or strengthen processes
* Experience working in a high volume environment where priorities can shift
